or "what the internet means to me"...

Let me tell you a story. A story that began about 7 years ago, while I was just a kid (I'm not saying I'm a grown-up now!). I had a friend, Alex, who learned in Spiru Haret primary school. I used to visit him @ home, watch tv, kids stuff... until one day. On that day he invited me to come with him to some IT lessons with his teacher. When I got there, that man who was his teacher was kind enough to tell me some of the computer's secrets, secrets I never had access to. That friend of mine and his teacher are the 2 persons that I'll never forget. Without them, you wouldn't be reading this page here today, because it would have never existed. I still didn't know anything about the Internet, no one ever knew that it would become my second life. On another sunny day, I was taking a walk in the city, and saw a so-called Internet Cafe. I was curious, and, in despite I didn't know what to do there, I rented a computer. Connection speeds were very slow back then, however, i loved it. Then I went there again, and again, and again... until it became addictive. It was like a drug thru my veins. I couldn't live without it. Then I met her. Her meaning Mihaela, from Slobozia. We chatted, then we called each other, ever wrote letters! About 1 year after I met her, in a morning, the phone rang. It was her. I heard a strange background noise and asked her where she was, she was in Bucharest. I went to meet her. My heart was bumping like it wanted to get out. Finally, we meet and everything goes perfect... 3 weeks after, I jumped in a train and went to Slobozia to see her again. As the train was arriving at the platform, I opened the door and guess who I saw? It was her, waiting for 30 minutes because of the delay :) She showed me around, then we took a walk along the river Ialomita. There we stood down on the ground and embraced each other. I got my first kiss, so did she. We were extremely happy that we met, and now we were together. 8 months. It's still the longest relationship until now... But time and distance tear us apart. I guess she wasn't strong enough for this, so she let go. Now we're good friends, but we only met once since we broke up. Anytime we get the chance we talk and keep up with the gossip. We discovered together what love means and learned to cherish it. The Internet made all of this possible, and sometimes I think if it would be the same without it. Surely not :) Years have passed, I'm not that kid anymore, still I remember her as it was yesterday.

The net gave me happiness and sadness, taught me good and bad, showed me things that I may have never learned in real life. Now I have lots of friends, many of them I know personally. Being online became my second life. Laughter, cyber-fights, friends, enemies... I couldn't live without it. So "Thanks God, for inventing the Internet".

P.S. You may now laugh at me, cause I know that's what you're doing. I HATE YOU :P
